Typography Class Done?

Well, I didn't keep up with this blog, to say the least. But things have been pretty hectic these last couple of weeks. Working 2 jobs, being a full-time student, and participating in school events will do that to you I guess. Eh, I need to slow down a bit lol.

But Anyway! Typography! I really loved this class! However, I wish I had taken the longer course instead of the accelerated one. The depth of typography is immense and if you really want to get into the nitty gritty of things you're gonna need time. Well, At least I do, I just want to know more!

Except for coding it into a website, I don't know how well I'm going to do with that.

This course has sparked a new interest in me. I find myself looking at type in a completely different manner. When I look at different Typefaces on the web or fonts used for advertisement I can't help but admire and honestly, critique them. What what the designer trying to convey? Did they nail it? Typography extends beyond the serifs and spurs. A great type can instill emotion, excitement, elegancy, and of course seriousness. I whole new artistic world has opened up for me. I find myself buying new calligraphy pens to practice my designs or scripts. The way that ink flows man feels amazing. We learned how to build letters from scratch, and this class taught us the anatomy of letters, Yes letters have different body parts too. Check this poster I made in class it'll list all the different parts

We learned how to create and design a typeface, which is a different variation of font families for example Arial is a typeface and Arial Black, Arial Bold, and Arial Narrow are all fonts within that typeface family.

This class was very informative and to be honest, my professor was pretty awesome. I still have a lot to learn so I'm going to keep practicing on my own!

Cheers, everyone have a great weekend!
